Winners and the BIG 40!

I am working on my last weeks in the thirties….then I turn 40! BLAH…trying to enjoy the thirties! Good thing I have parties at RWA to go to! lol

This weeks winners are: Beth, Jodi, Melissa! Email me at lisarenjones@aol.com

Also this week three more winners from our posters so post to enter. I have a little makeup kit, EC books, and a Beatrice Small Trade and other goodies like EC playing cards! So post to win!

This week will launch the THEKNIGHTSOFWHITE.COM — I can’t wait!

Hard and Fast will be in Walmarts this time NEXT month! Hoping for some arcs soon to give away!

No book news but no declines either so I am clinging to that. Hopefully this week. Well, a little news. One of my editors loved a proposal and asked me to revised the synopsis so hopefully that will be some good news very soon! More when I can say for sure.

I picked up Witch Fire by Anya Bast and am excited to read it and Dean Koontz’s The Husband. What did you guys finish this week? What was great? What wasn’t?

This week with the launch of Knights of White I was wondering what sites you love? Author sites? Reviews sites? Blogs?

I tried to make Knights of White interesting. My web designer is a goddess so she really is making it great! We have the music inspiring the series, the weapons in the books, the hero and herione pictures and so much more. I can’t wait to show it off.

So tell me about the sites youn visit and why?

Sunday night again…

How was everyone’s week? As you can tell I promised to answer blogs only once a week to stick to my writing schedule and I snuck a few times and replied lol! I couldn’t help myself. I read them as they come to the feed via my email and sometimes its hard not to respond.

Winners for this week are JOYE, STACIA, LINDA SCOTT! Email me for your prizes. Also let me know if you like EC books in your email because I have lots of those to give out. Include your address. I will draw three more winners next Sunday night from the blog posts this week:)

Last week I said I was waiting on book news…I got none. No bad, no good. I consider no bad some good so I cling to that lol! So keep those good vibes coming my way!

The Knights of White site is almost done. This week so look for a special announcement and post on that!

I am currently going through the proofs of The Beast Within and I am nervous! This is the launch of this series and I want it to shine. I forgot how sexy this book is. Ther first scene is a sex scene and the book sizzles all the way through. It’s so much hotter than the other Nocturne’s I have read I am wondering how readers will respond. I hope well:)! The hero and herione are husband and wife from a prior life though they don’t know it at first but of course their sizzle is instant because they have shared a life together and a deep love.

I saw Fantastic Four tonight…BLAH - hated it. REally really did not like this movie. Bad script. Bad acting. Bad. Anyone else? There are several out I want to see. Mr. Brooks, Ocean 13 — can’t wait for Transformers, Evan Almighty, and Die Hard! Bring it on Bruce. The buzz is its the best Die Hard yet. What am I forgetting? Harry Potter! What else?

Also — Rich Franklin rocks!! WHOO you say? The Ultimate fighter Rich Franklin. Love the guy. He kicked butt Saturday night on pay per view! Go RICH! I swear he got in a bad spot and I thought Diego was going to have a heart attack he was jumping around the house and screaming for Rich. All was good though. Rich pulled out and won!

Finally — My book review for Dresden Files – First book I have finished all the way in forever! LOVED it! Great humor, great magical world that really made me willingly suspend reality. AND I really got the other characters through Harry’s eyes which is hard to do. First person often leaves me wishing to understand the other characters more and I didn’t feel that at all. I knew them all. Oh and Harry is a kick butt Wizard in the books. He does so much more magic than in the show! Get it. Read it. Jim Butcher- love ya man! Thanks for giving me a book I couldn’t wait to keep reading! I needed that!

So tell me about you guys? Books this week? Your movies? See you tomorrow night! Remember I blog Sunday nights and respond to the weeks blogs Monday nights (and cheat during the week because I can’t help myself!) Thanks for keeping me company! I love getting the email comments during the week! You guys make me smile!:)

Prize winners, a featured site and a weeks worth of ramblings

Hello hello!

Prize winners for last week! Remember I draw from all the posts weekly on Sunday nights. I will draw three winners each week. The way I am managing writing time is I post prize winners and a new blog Sunday nights. Then I respond to all posts Monday night which I really enjoy. Okay, so I read them sooner and resist responding and its hard. I am opinionated about our subject from last week so expect some responses for sure lol! Walmart and what lures me to books.

Cover do it for sure — I just have to say that. One author I don’t usually enjoy that much has such a rocking cover this month I almost decided to give her another try. Almost. Real close.

So this weeks winners are: Penny, Pam K, and Gail — Email lisarenjones@aol.com your address and I will mail off your prizes!

Featured site this week is my local RWA chapter. The site is newly redone and I think its great. Great group there and great authors. Hope you will click and visit! I am speaking at the chapter meeting this Tuesday night actually.

Book news: NONE! I have none. No bad news either though so I am clinging to that. Need I say I am a ball of nerves going into this week? So send good vibes my way PLEAZZZZ!

I did make some really good progress on BEAST OF DARKNESS. I got through two really tough chapters that really were tough and packed with emotional transition.

Tonight I watched Sophrano’s - I have never watched the show til this season and D convinced me to try. I was shocked I liked it. Very gritty and real. But the ending was NO ENDING. It was horrible!! Anyone else see it? I won’t say what happened in case someone is still planning to watch.

I went to the bookstore armed with my list I’d made from everyone’s suggestions. I found myself draw to the Dresden books for some reason. It’s not romance and I like to read my own genre but I am loving this book. It’s first person which I don’t love but the dry quirky humor and the details of using magic really have me hooked. It reminds me of early Anita Blake novels. The personality of Harry, much like Anita, will keep me reading regardless of the storyline. I think I’m hooked.

Oh– I found out HARD AND FAST, my first Blaze, got four stars at RT. I don’t know details but I did get an insider tip on that from a staff member. So that’s a relief! 3 stars is painful and on a first NYC book it would have meant tears. I know the other authors out there feel me on that!

So what news did you have this week? What shows or books set you off as the Sophrano’s did me? We ranted about it for a good hour lol! And what do you think of RWA Austin?

Prize winners and more!

Hey all! I am going to blog on Sundays and Mondays, responding to blogs, posting new stuff and updating prize winners. I find that works great when I get deep into a book which I thankfully am now…it was slow starting but BEAST OF DARKNESS is feeling like a real live book now. YAY! My goal is to turn it in July 1st so I have to crank it out.

Prize winners!

Danny
Jodi

email me your addresses!

I have more prizes so everyone who posts gets an entry for each post!

This weeks topic — What do you think about Walmart cutting out all books except best sellers and catagory….will this send you back to bookstores or will you settle for what you can find at walmart? Will you buy some there where its cheapter and some at other bookstores?

Authors find it hard to break into the industry and even if they do if they have low sales they may be gone in a few years. So my other question is what makes you try a new author. reviews? Covers? Cover copy? Authors you get to know on line first? What will do it for you?

Also– anyone giong to RWA in Dallas?
