A quick surgery update

First thank you to those of you who emailed me or posted your thoughts and prayers. I plan to send everyone notes this week now that we are through the storm and calm again. I sincerly appreciate it so very very much.

Surgery is done and it went really well! My son says he cannot believe how much easier it is to suck in a breath now. The heart and respiratory system are very connected apparently from what we learned. The valve that was causing the extra electrical charges is now basically soldiered shut. We won’t know for months if it grows back( the valve opening) but all indicators are that the surgery was highly successful and the chances of a regrowth are very slim.

The doctor was wonderfully comforting through it all. My oldest son and mom being here really helped though sending them home to Texas was hard.

I am exhausted, relieved — did I say exhausted? And most of all I am soso very thankful that God blessed me with a happy outcome and that he let us find this before it was too late. I still can’t get my mind around the fact that my kid had a heart condition that could have killed him — and he was playing sports with it! He had a heart condition and had heart surgery. It sounds like a movie. But it is a movie with happy ending! :)

Now off to sleep and start the new Monday without jitters and worries….but with joy:)
PS hope this post is coherent — I am a little loopy as you can imagine!

I’m so happy to hear things went well with your son’s surgery, Lisa. I can’t imagine how nerve-wracking and exhausting it must have been. It’s definitely time for you to get a little rest. I hope your son is able to get the same and recover from the surgery quickly and without any complications. He and your family will remain in my prayers.
