ABOUT THE CLASS:
So you want to write a book. Then you must know your characters and they must be believable, but most importantly they must connect with readers. That doesn't mean they have to be nice guys or nice at all. Look at the TV show Dexter. The writers were so brilliant they made us root for a serial killer. How did they do that? Why do you want to know how? Because no matter what genre you are writing in if your readers don't want to spend time with your characters and root for their outcome, they won't keep turning the page.

- Why the past matters
- How to build your character by way of interacting with life (even eating an ice cream cone!) and other characters

Participants will have the opportunity to submit chapters to be reviewed in class. The instructor will not critique your story as publishable or not, as that is often individual opinion. Guidance on basic publishing requirements and polishing your work will be the focus.
A question and answer session will be the conclusion of the event but questions are welcomed throughout the event
